Uncle Matty was killed on the D-Day during the Invasion of Normandy. His M1 Garand was found by a French farmer in Normandy and kept for decades. In March 2016 it was acquired by an active duty French Colonel Patrick Collet. Promoted to General in July 2016,  General Collet calls it a “Special Piece of History” and was instrumental in donating and making sure it made it home to be on display at the Pentagon. Uncle Matty’s historic M1 Garand is now proudly on display in the office of the 39th Chief of Staff of the United States Army General Mark A. Milley.

General Patton wrote, “In my opinion, the M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.”  View Uncle Matty’s M1 Garand and all the history it represents.
